Sept 9 (Reuters) -U.S. crude grades were mixed on Monday, dealers said, with Tropical Storm Francine expected to make landfall on the Louisiana coast on Wednesday evening.

U.S. Gulf of Mexico offshore oil and gas producers on Monday were evacuating staff and curbing drilling as the storm churned through the energy region on a path to bring high winds and drenching rains to the U.S. mid-South.

Exxon Mobil XOM.N said it shut-in output and evacuated staff from its Hoover offshore production platform. Shell SHEL.L said it was evacuating non-essential personnel from three offshore oil platforms, and had paused drilling operations at two others.

On the refining side, U.S. oil refiners are expected to have about 311,000 barrels per day (bpd) of capacity offline in the week ending Sept. 13, increasing available refining capacity by 166,000 bpd, research company IIR Energy said on Monday.

Offline capacity is expected to rise to 535,000 bpd in the week ending Sept. 20, IIR added.
