Chips stocks up, Evercore ISI sees low probability of stricter chip export rules
** Shares of Nvidia NVDA.O, Advanced Micro Devices AMD.O and Intel INTC.O up between 1% and 1.9% before the bell, after chip stocks tumbled on Wednesday following reports of potential tighter U.S. regulation on exports to China
** "We think the near-term probability of implementing FDPR (foreign direct product rule) restrictions is low and view the near-term weakness as a unique buying opportunity" - Evercore ISI
** The Philadelphia SE Semiconductor Index .SOX ended 6.8% lower on Wednesday, logging its worst day in more than four years and shedding over $500 billion in market value
** Taiwanese contract chipmaker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing 2330.TW expects higher revenue in its current quarter as AI drives demand, sending its U.S.-listed shares TSM.N up 0.9% premarket
** Up to last close, NVDA up ~138%, INTC down ~31% and AMD up ~8%, compared with a ~30% increase in the Philadelphia SE Semiconductor index this year
