US Cash Grains-Soybean basis slumps at some processors, elevators
CHICAGO, Aug 21 (Reuters) -Spot basis bids for soybeans delivered to elevators and processors around the U.S. Midwest were steady to lower on Wednesday on light demand and good supplies, traders said.
* Bids at soy crushers have fallen particularly hard this week as processing plants have good supplies on hand and are anticipating a massive harvest this autumn.
* A large soy processor in Decatur, Illinois, cut its spot basis bid by 10 cents a bushel on Wednesday.
* Spot corn basis bids were mostly steady to weak at elevators and steady to higher at processors, with some offering premiums for immediate grain arrivals.
* A Chicago-area corn processor offered a 10-cent premium for grain arriving by Aug. 25 over bids for supplies arriving by the end of the month. Another processor in Blair, Nebraska, offered a 3-cent premium over its August bid for corn arriving by the weekend.
* A U.S. Midwest crop surveying tour scouting corn and soy fields this week has found above-average yield potential in Nebraska and Indiana on Tuesday. The closely followed tour is surveying top producing states Iowa and Illinois on Wednesday.
