UK Stocks-Factors to watch on Aug 22
Adds new items, updates futures
Aug 22 -Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE index is seen opening lower on Thursday, with futures FFIc1 down 0.1%.
* JD SPORTS: British sportswear retailer JD Sports Fashion JD.L reported a 2.4% rise in second-quarter underlying sales, an improvement on the previous quarter, but said it was cautious on its outlook for the rest of the year with the overall market remaining volatile.
* HAYS: British recruiter Hays HAYS.L reported a 47% drop in annual profit, meeting market expectations, hit by extended hiring periods due to macroeconomic and political uncertainties.
* ITHACA: North Sea oil and gas company Ithaca Energy ITH.L reported a lower net profit for the first half of the year, hurt by impairment charges, lower production and a decline in natural gas prices.
* OIL: Oil prices fell for a fifth session as global demand concerns exerted pressure on the market despite a decline in U.S. fuel inventories.
* GOLD: Gold prices fell, retreating from all-time highs hit earlier this week, as the U.S. dollar ticked up ahead of U.S. jobs data and the Federal Reserve chief's speech that could offer further insights into the interest rate outlook.
* METALS: Copper prices rose, supported by falling metal inventories, easing worries over a potential U.S. economic recession and demand showing signs of improvement in China.
* EX-DIVS: Modni MNDI.L Schroders SDR.L ConvaTec CTEC.L and Land Securities LAND.L will trade without entitlement to their latest dividend pay-out on Thursday.
