Europe Distillates-Diesel refining margins decline on rising supplies
LONDON, Aug 5 (Reuters) -Northwest European diesel barge refining margins dropped by 70 cents to $17.92 a barrel on Monday on the back of rising supplies in the region and signs of an economic slowdown.
Six 10ppm diesel barges traded in the Platts window, with Shell selling to Hartree, TotalEnergies and Vitol.
EU and UK diesel imports have reached 1.09 million barrels per day so far this month, up from 962,000 bpd in July, Kpler data showed.
Independently-held diesel and gasoil stocks in ARA edged up from 2.009 million metric tons to 2.013 million tons in the week to August 1, according to data from Dutch consultancy Insights Global.
Oil fell on Monday, trailing a stock market selloff sparked by fears of a U.S. recession.
China's slumping consumption of diesel, as the use of LNG-powered trucks grows, is weighing on domestic fuel demand, with forecasters warning of further risks from a sluggish economy hobbled by a prolonged crisis in the property sector.
