CHICAGO, July 18 (Reuters) -Spot basis bids for corn and soy were steady to weaker in the U.S. Midwest on Thursday as crop futures remained too low to spark farmer selling, dealers said.

* The corn basis slipped at a processor, an elevator, a river terminal and ethanol plant.

* The soy basis decreased at a river terminal.

* The U.S. Department of Agriculture reported weekly old-crop U.S. corn export sales of 437,800 metric tons, below analyst estimates for 500,000 to 800,000 tons. Weekly new-crop sales of 485,700 metric tons topped estimates for 25,000 to 400,000 tons.

* The USDA, in a daily reporting system, said exporters sold 510,000 metric tons of U.S. soybeans to unknown buyers for 2024-25 delivery and 150,000 tons of U.S. soymeal to unknown buyers for 2024-25.

* USDA reported weekly export sales of U.S. old-crop soybeans at 360,100 metric tons, within analyst estimates for 150,000 to 600,000 tons. Weekly new-crop sales of 375,000 tons were also within expectations.

* Most-active corn futures Cv1 lost 6-1/2 cents at $4.05-1/4 per bushel as of 1600 GMT, while soy futures Sv1 reached a contract low of $10.31-3/4 per bushel. GRA/
