Ukraine 2024 grain and oilseed harvest has reached 35 mln T so far
Adds harvested area, 2023 data
KYIV, Sept 6 (Reuters) -Ukraine had harvested almost 35 million metric tons of grain and oilseeds as of Sept. 5, agriculture ministry data showed on Friday.
The data showed that farms had threshed a total of 9.55 million hectares of grains and oilseeds and harvested 29.1 million tons of various grains and 5.8 million tons of oilseeds.
Output included 21.9 million tons of wheat, 5.5 million tons of barley, 458,000 tons of corn and 3.4 million tons of rapeseed.
The ministry gave no comparative data, but last year it reported that a total of 33.7 million tons of grain had been harvested as of Sept. 7, 2023.
The volume included 22.1 million tons of wheat, 5.8 million tons of barley and 386,540 tons of peas, plus smaller contributions from other cereals.
The ministry has said it expected the 2024 corn harvest to be about 25 million tons while the wheat crop could total 21.8 million tons.
It has raised its forecast for the 2024 grain harvest to 56 million tons from 52.4 million tons. Together with oilseeds, the crop could total 77 million tons, the ministry said.
