** Shares of drug developer vTv Therapeutics VTVT.O fall ~39% to $12.95 after the bell
** Company says the U.S. FDA has placed a clinical hold on its ongoing late-stage study testing its experimental treatment for type 1 diabetes
** * Clinical hold was placed after a chromatographic signal was observed during a recent study which assessed how the drug was absorbed and distributed into the body - VTVT
** Chromatography is a technique used to separate and analyze different components of a substance
** FDA requires a single laboratory test to characterize this signal before the study can resume - VTVT
** No patient had been dosed in the study at the time of the clinical hold and past clinical studies did not reveal any clinically concerning safety issues - VTVT
