US Cash Grains-Corn and soy basis bids remain under pressure
CHICAGO, Aug 16 (Reuters) -Spot basis bids for corn and soybeans were flat to lower in the U.S. Midwest on Friday, spot checks showed.
* Cash markets maintained a softer tone, with farmers continuing to sell old-crop supplies this week and processors expecting bumper harvests, brokers said.
* Favorable crop weather supports large harvest forecasts and limits the potential for higher prices.
* Normal to below-normal temperatures are expected across most of the Corn Belt during the next 10 days, which will continue to limit heat stress on corn and soybeans, weather firm Maxar said. Below-normal rainfall is expected through the end of August, though, the forecaster said.
* The annual Pro Farmer crop tour next week will assess corn and soy fields across the Midwest, after the U.S. Department of Agriculture projected record yields in a monthly report on Monday.
* Chicago Board of Trade most-active corn futures Cv1 ended down 0.6% this week and soybeans Sv1 lost 4.5% in the third consecutive weekly decline for each market.
