UniCredit's Germany boss: Commerzbank stake is currently just an investment
BERLIN, Nov 13 (Reuters) -UniCredit's CRDI.MI Germany head, Marion Hoellinger, said on Wednesday that the bank she leads, HyperVereinsbank, has a lot of experience with mergers but that the bank's Commerzbank CBKG.DE stake is just an investment at the moment.
"This is currently a strategic investment and nothing more," Hoellinger said at a conference.
Italy's No. 2 bank has been pressing for a tie-up with Commerzbank after snapping up a hefty stake in September, while Germany's No. 2 bank has been honing its defence as it seeks to remain independent.
"It's important to talk and exchange views," she said.
