** The STOXX tech index .SX8P falls 5.2%, the most among sectoral indices on region-wide .STOXX which is down by 2%

** The sector had already been battered earlier after disappointing earnings from U.S. heavyweights Intel and Amazon, and weaker-than-expected U.S. factory data

** Intel INTC.O forecast Q3 revenue below estimates and said it would cut operating expenses and reduce capital expenditure by more than $10 bln in 2025, weighing on chip equipment makers

** ASML ASML.AS, the largest maker of equipment used to manufacture computer chips, falls 9%

** Chip equipment maker ASM International ASMI.AS falls 13%, BE Semiconductor BESI.AS is down 11%

** STMicroelectronics STMPA.PA and Infineon IFXGn.DE both fall around 5%; computer parts maker Logitech LOGN.S down around 6%
