Europe Distillates-Diesel cracks hold steady

LONDON, Aug 14 (Reuters) -Northwest European diesel barge refining racks rose by a marginal 16 cents to $17.79 a barrel on Wednesday, even as U.S. distillate stockpiles registered a deeper-than-expected draw last week.

  • A total of 6,100 metric tons of 10ppm diesel barges traded in the Platts window, up from one 3,000 ton barge on Tuesday.

  • Trading activity has been subdued in recent sessions on seasonally weak demand, traders said.

  • "September's ICE Gasoil spread and crack have shown signs of stabilisation in recent days, a trend we expect to persist mildly as European refineries enter their turnaround season and demand begins to increase towards the end of the third quarter," Sparta Commodities' James Noel-Beswick said in an online note.

  • U.S. distillate stockpiles USOILD=ECI, which include diesel and heating oil, fell by 1.7 million barrels in the week to 126.1 million barrels, versus expectations for a 0.52 million-barrel draw, data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed.

  • Russia's seaborne oil product exports in July rose to 9.289 million metric tons, up 1.1% month on month, data from industry sources and Reuters calculations showed.

  • Global jet fuel demand is poised to soften as a slowdown in consumer spending hits travel budgets, a shift that could weigh on oil prices in the months ahead.
