Veolia shares jump as strong water technologies unit boosts Q1 results
** Shares in Veolia VIE.PA rise 2.5% after the French waste and water management company met Q1 core profit expectations, buoyed by a strong performance in its water technologies unit and synergies with Suez
** Veolia says its Q1 EBITDA increased by 5.7% organically to 1.62 billion euros ($1.75 billion), in line with a company-compiled consensus of 1.6 billion euros
* J.P.Morgan says lower energy and recyclate prices was offset at the EBITDA level by stronger net pricing, with waste pricing up 4.6% and water pricing up 3.6%
** JPM adds Veolia's results partially underpin management's case for a growth story less reliant on commodity price moves and more skewed towards higher value-added services with bigger pricing power
** The broker notes synergies with Suez operations, which amounted to 42 million euros in Q1, were bigger than it expected
