US Plains HRW Wheat-Wheat basis steady while futures bounce
CHICAGO, Aug 9 (Reuters) -Spot basis bids for hard red winter wheat remained unchanged on Friday following a mostly steady week marked by low farmer selling and a slow cash trade, dealers said.
* Chicago wheat futures turned higher on expectations of a poor French crop and position squaring ahead of Monday's U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) supply and demand report.
* A survey of analysts forecast slightly higher U.S. wheat production.
* Russian agricultural consultancy Sovecon has revised its forecast for Russia's 2024 wheat crop down to 82.9 million metric tons from 84.7 million metric tons, it said on Friday.
* Protein premiums for wheat shipped by rail to and through Kansas City increased by 3 cents for wheat with 13% to 13.4% protein. KCBT/SCA
* K.C. September hard red winter wheat KWU24 ended up 2-1/2 cents at $5.54 per bushel.
