US Cash Grains-Soy, corn bids up as demand increases
CHICAGO, Oct 18 (Reuters) -Basis bids for corn were mixed and soy bids rose on Friday as export demand increased but farmers remained reluctant to sell, dealers said.
* Soy basis bids increased at an Ohio elevator and two Midwestern processors.
* Corn basis bids increased at two elevators, two river terminals and an ethanol plant. The corn basis decreased at one Illinois ethanol plant.
* In corn, a run of demand from Mexico and other destinations, including the biggest daily U.S. export sale in a year, as announced on Wednesday, shifted attention away from the U.S. harvest.
* Analysts said corn demand was fueled by low prices for the U.S. crop.
* Dry weather in the U.S. Midwest has accelerated harvesting, with 47% of the corn crop and 67% of the soybean crop gathered by Sunday, well above the average pace of the last five years, according to the USDA.
* Most-active corn Cv1 futures were last down 3 cents at $4.03-3/4 a bushel and soybean Sv1 futures dropped 16-3/4 cents at $9.71-1/2 around midday.
