US Cash Grains-Corn basis mixed as dry weather pushes harvest along
CHICAGO, Oct 7 (Reuters) -Basis bids for corn were mixed in the U.S. Midwest on Monday with unusually dry weather aiding the progress of the harvest and weighing on prices in some areas. But in other locations, the demand for grain pushed bids upward, spot checks showed.
* The harvest sped along in the central U.S., with precipitation below normal into next week, according to analysts.
* The USDA reported the corn harvest was 30% complete in a report released after trading ended, ahead of the average.
* The agency reported the soybean harvest was 47% complete, also ahead of the average.
* The corn basis fell by 15 cents a bushel at a processor in Chicago and rose by 10 cents at an elevator in the same area.
* Soybean basis bids were mostly flat but the basis fell by 15 cents at a river terminal in Toledo, Ohio.
* On the Chicago Board of Trade, CBOT November soybeans SX24 settled down 3-3/4 cents at $10.34 a bushel.
* CBOT December corn CZ24 settled up 1-1/4 cents at $4.26 a bushel.
