Aug 1 (Reuters) -Ukraine has made a payment of about $200 million to holders of its GDP warrants, securities not included in a deal with private bondholders announced last week, the government said on Thursday.

The government paid $130.1 million of a consent fee and another $70.5 million linked to economic growth in 2021. Payments on the warrants, issued in 2015 for $2.6 billion, are linked to Ukraine's economic growth.

The government had said in a regulatory notice last week that it intended to make payments for both the warrant consent fees and the deferred payments for 2021 growth, which had been due in 2023.

"The payment of the consent fee under the terms of 2022 consent solicitation will result in securing a call option on the warrants outstanding – the ability to redeem all warrants at par value during the next three years," the finance ministry said via email.

The GDP warrants were trading near 61 cents on the dollar on Thursday, their highest level since Russia's invasion in February 2022. They traded at around 45 cents in January.

The warrants were not part of a deal struck between the government and private holders of near $20 billion in bonded debt.

The payment was made despite President Volodymyr Zelenskiy having signed earlier this week a law allowing the government to suspend foreign debt payments until Oct. 1.

The government announced on Wednesday it would not make a coupon payment on a 2026 maturity that was due Thursday.
