UK Stocks-Factors to watch on May 21
May 21 -Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE index is seen opening lower on Tuesday, with futures FFIc1 down 0.6%.
* ANGLO AMERICAN: Anglo American AAL.L shareholder Legal & General Investment Management supports the break-up plan announced by the company last week, as the deadline approaches for BHP Group BHP.AX to log a formal takeover offer.
* INTERNATIONAL PAPER: Brazilian pulp and paper company Suzano SUZB3.SA has been in talks with its advisers about sweetening its $15 billion acquisition offer for International Paper IP.N, people familiar with the matter said.
* GSK: GSK GSK.L has been sued by an independent Connecticut laboratory that accused the drugmaker of defrauding the U.S. government and taxpayers by concealing cancer risks in Zantac, once a blockbuster heartburn drug.
* DR MARTENS: Investment firm Marathon Partners Equity Management is turning up the heat on Dr Martens DOCS.L by urging the British boot maker to detail planned expense cuts and to buy back stock, people familiar with the matter told Reuters.
* RECKITT: Activist investor Eminence Capital bought more stake in Reckitt RKT.L, piling further pressure on the consumer goods group whose share price has plunged over fears that its baby formula business could be on the hook for billions in damages, the Financial Times reported.
* METALS: Copper retreats from record high on firm dollar, subdued demand
* OIL: Oil prices fell in early Asia trade, with investors anticipating lingering U.S. inflation and higher interest rates will depress consumer and industrial demand.
* GOLD: Gold slips from record levels as dollar holds ground
* London equities managed to eke out some gains on Monday, helped by a rally among metal miners and defence stocks.
