ANKARA, July 18 (Reuters) -Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Thursday.
The lira TRYTOM=D3 was traded at 33.0990 against the U.S. dollar at 0409 GMT, unchanged from Wednesday's close.
The main BIST 100 share index .XU100 closed 0.05% lower at 11,134.08 points on Wednesday.
GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian equities fell on Thursday, led by chip stocks as investors fret over the prospect of escalating trade tensions between the U.S. and China, while the yen surged to a six-week high in the wake of suspected interventions by Tokyo last week.
ENERGY MINISTER
Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar will meet with Somalia's oil and mine resources minister Abdirizak Omar Mohamed. After the talks, the two ministers will sign a deal on cooperation in the field of hydrocarbons (1100 GMT).
Bayraktar also visited Niger on Wednesday as part of a high-level delegation. The Energy Ministry said the two countries signed a declaration of will to support and encourage Turkish companies in the improvement of oil and natural gas fields in Niger.
Turkish and Nigerien officials also discussed increasing cooperation in the fields of security, intelligence and economy, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said.
PARLIAMENT
Parliament's planning and budget commission will start debating a draft bill that includes a new savings plan aiming to strengthen fair taxation (1130 GMT).
OPPOSITION
Main opposition CHP leader Ozgur Ozel will attend his party's meeting on education policies in Ankara (0700 GMT), and then will head to Nicosia for his visit to northern Cyprus.
CENBANK DATA
Turkish central bank will announce weekly data on its reserves (1130 GMT).
FX-PROTECTED DEPOSITS
Turkey's central bank has lowered the minimum interest rate applicable to foreign exchange-protected deposits to 35% from 40%, according to a document seen by Reuters.
