STOXX: CALM RETURNS AFTER FRENCH SELLOFF
European equities got off to a steady start on Tuesday, as calm returned to markets following Monday's risk-off moves on the back of French political tremors. Traders however were bracing for more action ahead of the Federal Reserve's policy meeting this week.
The region-wide STOXX 600 .STOXX hovered around parity and was last down 0.1%, while in Paris, the CAC 40 .FCHI bounced off over three-month lows, adding 0.2%.
Madrid's IBEX .IBEX, down 0.6%, was penalised by a 12% drop in Naturgy NTGY.MC after holding firm Criteria dropped plans to launch a joint takeover bid with Abu Dhabi's TAQA TAQA.AD for the Spanish energy firm.
Miners .SXPP led sectoral fallers.
