STOXX 600 UP, CAC 40 DROPS BEFORE ELECTION
Europe's STOXX 600 .STOXX was trading slightly higher on Friday but France's CAC 40 .FCHI index underperformed before the first round of voting in the legislative election on Sunday.
French blue-chips are down 0.6%, bringing the weekly drop to 1.7%.
In contrast, the STOXX 600 is up 0.1% and down just 0.3% for the week.
"Political uncertainty may keep French/EU risk premia elevated over the medium term," Barclays equity strategists say in a note.
In corporate news, Adidas ADSGn.DE has largely shrugged off a disappointing trading update from U.S. rival Nike NKE.N, where shares traded down 12% aftermarket. Brokers highlighted this might create an opportunity for the German footwear rival to gain market share, but Adidas shares were unable to hold onto small early gains.
Britain's JD Sports JD.L wasn't so fortunate and the footwear retailer's shares tumbled 4% to the bottom of the pan-European benchmark.
