Repeats with no changes

Sept 27 (Reuters) -An FX option note from Societe Generale highlights the potential for EUR/GBP to bounce with relative rates and suggests taking advantage of low option prices to benefit.

EUR/GBP has lost 3.5% since early August highs above 0.8600, which is consistent with the widening GBP-EUR rate differential. Soc Gen rates strategists think the market is pricing in more than enough ECB rate cuts in a soft-landing scenario, while the BoE will struggle to remain restrictive. In this context, the strategists expect the EUR-GBP rate differential to rebound imminently, lifting EUR/GBP with it. They also highlight how relative economic surprises are now also pointing upwards.

EUR/GBP realised/actual volatility measures have recently moved above implied volatility which suggests the latter might soon follow suit to make owning options attractive for the first time this year.

Societe Generale's preferred expression is via the 2 month expiry date. The strategists advocate an 0.8500 versus 0.8550 strike EUR call spread for a premium of 0.14%. With spot at 0.8360, this option offers a maximum pay-out of 4.2 times the premium. They also suggest a 2-month expiry 0.8650 one touch knock in for 13% premium, which can return 7.7 times the premium paid.
