Russia's Omsk oil refinery completes maintenance of unit, sources say
MOSCOW, Aug 27 (Reuters) -Omsk oil refinery, Russia's largest, completed maintenance in mid-August at a crude distillation unit that was damaged by fire on Aug. 1, two industry sources said on Tuesday, the day after a fire at another unit killed one and injured six others.
The sources, who could not be named because they were not authorised to speak publicly, said the refinery controlled by Gazprom Neft SIBN.MM had completed maintenance of CDU-10.
The unit processes some 8.6 million metric tons of crude oil per year, or around 37% of the plant's output capacity, and is of a similar capacity to CDU-11, the unit hit by Monday's fire.
The plant, located around 2,700 km (1,700 miles) east of Moscow, said it was operating as normal and production plans would not be affected.
Gazprom Neft has not replied to a request for further comment.
It processed 21.28 million tons (425,600 barrels per day) of oil in 2023, accounting for almost 8% of Russia's total oil refining.
The causes of the fires were not clear. Several Russian oil refineries have been targeted by Ukrainian drone attacks.
