GS initiates Norsk Hydro with 'buy' on investment strategy
** Goldman Sachs initiates Norsk Hydro NHY.OL with "buy", citing the Norwegian group's unique position as a full-cycle aluminium maker and its focus on expanding its end-user market reach
** GS says Hydro is positioning itself as a sector leader, as it invests in high-profit niche extrusion products and strengthens its downstream capabilities
** "We believe this strategy, that has focused on Europe and the US, diversifies NHY's portfolio and provides stable margins through longer-term contracts with customers," it says
** It adds Hydro's commitment to sustainable aluminium solutions, including low-carbon production and scrap recycling, will help it position itself amidst the green metal momentum
** GS sets a 12-month PT of NOK 93 vs last closing price of NOK 67.34 per share
** Out of 18 analysts that cover Norsk Hydro, nine rate it "strong buy" or "buy", eight "hold" and one "strong sell"
** As of last close, Hydro's shares were down 2.2% YTD
