NEW YORK, Sept 6 (Reuters) -Coffee futures on ICE closed down sharply on Friday pressured by high global exports and forecast for rains in Brazil, while raw sugar was alsodown.

COFFEE

* November robusta coffee LRCc2 settled down $141, or 2.9%, at $4,770 a metric tonas the market retreated further from last week's peak of $5,180, which was the highest level in at least 16 years. The contract lost 4% in the week.

* December arabica coffee KCc2 fell 3.4%, at $2.36 per lb, posting a 3.3% weekly loss.

* Dealers citedelevated global exports, as well as goodshipments from Brazil.

* "Preliminary data for August shows (Brazil) coffee flowing at good pace still, around 2.5 million bags of arabica and 800,000 bags of robusta," said a U.S.-based broker.

* "The rains beginning to show up in the forecast add to the pressure. I think could have been a trigger for the bigger move down," he added.

* Vietnam, however, exported 1.05 million metric tons of coffee in the first eight months of this year, down 12.5% from a year earlier.

* The robusta rally isboosting planting in Brazil, experts said.

COCOA

* December London cocoa LCCc2 ​​settled up 7 pounds, or 0.1%, to 5,257 pounds per ton.

* Prices slumped to a 6-1/2 month low of 4,975 pounds on Wednesday with the prospect of a rise in production in West Africa in the coming 2024/25 season keeping a lid on prices.

* "Improved weather conditions will see cocoa prices ease while remaining historically high," analyst BMI said in a note on Friday.

* December New York cocoa CCc2 fell 1.1% to $7,081 a ton.rose 1.7% to $7,278 a ton. It lost 8% in the week.


SUGAR

* October raw sugar SBc1 settled down 0.31 cents, or 1.6%, at 18.91 cents per lb. It lost 2.4% in the week.

* India plans to extend the ban on sugar exports for a second straight year as the world's biggest consumer of the sweetener grapples with the prospects of lower cane output, government sources said.

* Forecast for rains in Brazil, however, were seen as bearish as they could improve next year's crop.

* October white sugar LSUc1 fell 0.7% at $533.00 a ton.
