Bernstein ups Schindler to 'outperform' on current 'near-trough' valuation
Refiles to widen distribution
** Bernstein raises Swiss elevator maker Schindler SCHP.S to "outperform" from "market-perform", saying company is traded at cyclical lows despite healthy growth and a benign outlook
** Even with cyclically-depressed buildings sector, the broker sees about 4% overall topline compound annual growth rate to 2028 thanks to revenues from maintenance and modernization
** Bernstein says Schindler is trading at near-trough valuation, which is not reflective of fundamental earnings power
** Brokerage believes new construction needs to stabilize, not necessarily bounce back, so that the valuation returns to the fore
** In broker's view, the current timing offers compelling risk-reward balance
** Bernstein notes the capital markers day of the Finnish peer Kone KNEBV.HE "may be positive for Schindler, due to read-across from aftermarket growth and a margin accretion story"
** Shares in Schindler are up 1%
