Australia's Suncorp hits near 17-year high after approval for ANZ deal
** Shares of Suncorp SUN.AX rise as much as 4.9% to A$17.63, hitting their highest since Nov 7, 2007
** Australia approves ANZ Group's ANZ.AX A$4.9 bln ($3.25 bln) buyout of Suncorp's banking business, clearing the deal to proceed after almost two years of scrutiny
** Treasurer Jim Chalmers says conditions prohibit ANZ to close Suncorp's regional bank branches and cut jobs across Australia for three years
** Suncorp shares set to see best day since Feb 20 - if current gains hold
** Stock had risen 21.3% this year, as of last close
** ANZ shares rise as much as 0.9% to A$28.55 on Friday
