US Cash Crude-Offshore grades up as operators trim output with hurricane barreling across Gulf
Sept 26 (Reuters) -Physically traded offshore crude grades broadly rose on Thursday, dealers said, as Hurricane Helene hurtled across the Gulf of Mexico, set to make landfall on Florida's coast on Thursday evening.
About 25% of crude oil production and 20% of natural gas output in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico has been shut in, the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement said on Thursday.
Energy producers had shut-in 441,923 barrels per day of oil production and nearly 363.4 million cubic feet of natural gas from Gulf waters, the bureau said.
Meanwhile, fuel distributors in Florida were bracing for supply shortages as government officials issued dire warnings about the strengthening hurricane.
On the refining side, Citgo Petroleum shut down its 177,000 barrel-per-day (bpd) refinery at Lemont, Illinois, on Wednesday afternoon due to a power blip by its electricity supplier, the company confirmed on Thursday.
The refinery experienced a flaring event during the shutdown process, the company said.
"Units were stabilized and we began the restart process after power was restored (Wednesday) night," the company said in an email. "We will continue to raise rates and return to normal operations throughout the day."

* WTI Midland WTC-WTM fell 35 cents at a midpoint of a 60-cent premium and was seen bid and offered between a 50-cent and 70-cent a barrel premium to U.S. crude futures CLc1
* West Texas Sour WTC-WTS gained 5 cents at a midpoint of a 10-cent discount and was seen bid and offered between a discount of 40 cents and 20-cent a barrel premium to U.S. crude futures CLc1
* WTI at East Houston WTC-MEH, also known as MEH, traded between a $1.25 and $1.45 a barrel premium to U.S. crude futures CLc1
* ICE Brent November futures LCOc1 fell $1.86 to settle at $71.6 a barrel on Thursday.
* WTI November crude CLc1 futures fell $2.02 to settle at $67.67 a barrel.
* The Brent/WTI spread WTCLc1-LCOc1 widened last to minus $3.77, after hitting a high of minus $3.56 and a low of minus $3.96.
