Europe Distillates-Diesel cracks slide on inventory rise
LONDON, Aug 15 (Reuters) -Northwest European diesel barge refining cracks fell by about 3.7% to $17.14 a barrel on Thursday, as a rise in regional stocks weighed.
A total of 11,200 metric tons of 10ppm diesel barges traded in the Platts window, up from 6,100 ton barge on Wednesday, after BP sold to Shell, Hartree, Mabanaft and Gunvor.
Independently held refined oil products stocks in storage in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) refining and storage hub rose by 4% in the week to Thursday, driven by a build in gasoil, data from Dutch consultancy Insights Global showed.
Total stocks stood at 5.96 million metric tons.
Gasoline stocks fell by over 1% to 995,000 tons as transatlantic exports firmed, though inland demand weakened, said Insight Global's Lars van Wageningen.
"September's ICE Gasoil spread and crack have shown signs of stabilisation in recent days, a trend we expect to persist mildly as European refineries enter their turnaround season and demand begins to increase towards the end of the third quarter," Sparta Commodities' James Noel-Beswick said in an online note.
UK and EU diesel and gasoil imports are have reached 1.3 million barrels per day so far this month, Kpler data showed, up from 992,000 bpd in July.
