Webuild confident of beating 2024 goals after upbeat results

July 26 (Reuters) -Italian construction group Webuild is confident of reaching and even beating its targets for 2024, its chief financial officer said on Friday, a day after it reported upbeat first-half results with a record order backlog and growing revenue.
Webuild posted a commercial pipeline of 94 billion euros thanks to major infrastructure plans in some of the company's main markets in Europe, Australia, North America and the Middle East.
The group also generated a net cash position of 1.4 billion euros, its fourth consecutive semester in the black.
Webuild confirmed its full-year guidance, with expected revenue of more than 11 billion euros and earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) north of 900 million euros.
"After these results, we are more optimistic, we think we can reach our targets and even beat them," CFO and General Manager Massimo Ferrari said during an interview with Reuters.
Webuild is also ready to catch "tactical opportunities" for expansion in Africa and Asia, thanks to the improvements many countries have made in terms of public finances and political stability, Ferrari added.
The group is also still interested in opportunities in Italy, where there will be infrastructure tenders for a total of 35 billion euros in the coming years, Ferrari said, while noting that the Middle East, Australia and North America remain the company's main focus for future expansion.
"The United States has a huge infrastructure gap and almost endless possibilities," Ferrari said. "If we were able to win just 1% of the infrastructure tenders in the U.S. it would be a huge deal for us."
