US Cash Grains-Corn, soy basis steady-weak at most elevators, processors
CHICAGO, Aug 20 (Reuters) -Spot basis bids for corn and soybeans delivered to elevators and processors were steady to lower at most locations around the U.S. Midwest on Tuesday as strong harvest prospects left grain buyers unwilling to aggressively pursue supplies.
* A barge-loading river elevator in Morris, Illinois, cut its spot corn basis bid by 3 cents a bushel and its soybean bid by 10 cents. A Davenport, Iowa-area terminal dropped its corn bid by 4 cents.
* In one exception to the market's weak tone, a corn processor in Blair, Nebraska, raised its spot basis bid by 2 cents a bushel on Tuesday, offering farmers able to deliver grain before Sept. 6 a five-cent premium over bushels delivered later next month.
* Favorable crop weather supported strong harvest potential, and a U.S. Midwest crop surveying tour scouting corn and soy fields this week has found above-average yield potential.
