US Cash Grains-Corn and soy basis weaken amid ongoing harvest
CHICAGO, Sept 12 (Reuters) -Basis bids for corn and soy in the U.S. Midwest tipped down on Thursday as a nascent corn and soybean harvest discouraged buyers from raising bids and farmers remained reluctant to sell.
* The soy basis decreased at two Iowa processors and one river terminal. The corn basis ticked down at a Nebraska corn mill.
* The U.S. Department of Agriculture reported export sales of corn for the 2024-25 marketing year at 666,500 metric tons, below estimates for 700,000 to 1,600,000 metric tons.
* The USDA reported export sales of 1,474,000 metric tons of soybeans, landing on the higher end of analyst estimates.
* The USDA in a monthly supply/demand report raised its estimate of the U.S. 2024 corn yield to a record-high 183.6 bushels per acre (bpa). Analysts had expected a slight reduction.
* For soybeans, the government left its U.S. yield estimate unchanged from last month at 53.2 bpa, a record high that was in line with trade expectations.
* CBOT corn futures settled up 1-1/4 cents to $4.06 per bushel.
* CBOT soy futures settled up 13-1/2 cents to $10.10-3/4 per bushel.
