Turkey - Factors To Watch on July 22
ISTANBUL, July 22 (Reuters) -Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Monday.
The lira TRYTOM=D3 traded at 33.0800 against the U.S. dollar at 0421 GMT, after closing at 32.9900 on Friday.
The main BIST 100 share index .XU100 closed 0.15% higher at 11,156.20 points on Friday.
GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian shares slid anew on Monday, getting little lift from a surprise rate cut by China's central bank, while Wall Street futures firmed in the wake of President Joe Biden's decision to bow out of the election race.
CENTRAL BANK SURVEY TRINTM=ECI
The central bank will release its monthly survey of market participants' expectations for the economy. (0700 GMT)
MOODY'S UPGRADE
Ratings agency Moody's upgraded Turkey's ratings to "B1" from "B3" on Friday, citing improvements in governance and a tighter stance on monetary policy.
CENTRAL BANK STEP
The monthly growth limit for foreign currency loans has been lowered to 1.5% from 2%, Turkey's central bank said early on Saturday. The monthly growth limits for Turkish lira loans have been kept unchanged at 2%, the bank said in a statement.
TREASURY AUCTIONS
The Treasury will tap on Monday a two-year fixed coupon bond maturing on Feb. 18, 2026 and a 5-year CPI-indexed bond maturing on May 2, 2029.
DEBT STOCK TRDEBT=ECI
The Treasury will announce the central government debt stock for June. (1430 GMT)
ERDOGAN ON U.S. ELECTION
President Tayyip Erdogan believes a potential change in the U.S. administration after November's election may be positive for Turkey's growing defence industry, he was quoted as saying by Turkish media on Sunday.
MAIN OPPOSITION PARTY
Ozgur Ozel, leader of the main opposition Republican People's Party, will chair a meeting of the party's central executive committee. (1000 GMT)
IRAQ-TURKEY POWER LINK
An electricity grid interconnection between Iraq and Turkey began operating on Sunday, the Iraqi prime minister's office said in a statement. The grid will start supplying Iraq with 300 megawatts of electricity, it said.
GREEK BORDER
A Greek border guard was treated in hospital after suffering an injury from shots fired by unidentified people at police on patrol close to Greece's northern border with Turkey, Greek police said.
