Turkey - Factors To Watch on Aug 13
ISTANBUL, Aug 13 (Reuters) -Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Tuesday.
The lira TRYTOM=D3 was quoted at 33.44-33.60 against the U.S. dollar at 0426 GMT, compared with a close of 33.60 on Monday.
The main BIST 100 share index .XU100 closed 0.80% lower at 9.828.56 points on Monday.
GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian stocks rose on Tuesday, led by Japanese shares on the back of a steady yen, with traders awaiting data including the U.S. inflation report to gauge the Federal Reserve's policy outlook after volatile moves last week.
INVESTMENT MEETING
Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz will chair a meeting of the Investment Environment Improvement Coordination Board in Ankara. (1100 GMT)
CURRENT ACCOUNT TRCURA=ECI
The Central Bank will announce the balance of payments data for June. (0700 GMT)
HOUSE SALES
The Turkish Statistical Institute will publish the housing sales data for July. (0700 GMT)
TREASURY AUCTIONS
The Treasury will tap a 4-year TLREF-indexed bond maturing on May 17, 2028 and a 4-year fixed coupon bond maturing on Nov. 8. 2028. It will also issue a 2-year sukuk to banks via the direct sale method.
IRAN
The United States is asking Turkey and other allies that have ties with Iran to persuade it to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East, the U.S. ambassador to Turkey said. Ambassador Jeff Flake made the comments as the region braces for possible attacks by Iran and its allies after the killing of senior members of Hamas and Hezbollah.
YILPORT
Turkish holding company Yilport will invest an estimated $1.62 billion to expand two ports in El Salvador and operate them jointly with the local port authority, the government of the Central American country said.
HALKBANK HALKB.IS
The lender posted a net profit of 3.44 billion lira ($103 million) in the second quarter, up from 698.8 million a year earlier.
