South Korea benchmark bond yield falls
SEOUL, Sept 5 (Reuters) -Round-up of South Korean financial markets:
** South Korean shares rose on Thursday, rebounding after dropping more than 3% on a tech-led selloff a day earlier, while investors remained cautious ahead of U.S. payroll report. The won strengthened, while the benchmark bond yield fell.
** The benchmark KOSPI .KS11 rose 7.66 points, or 0.30%, to 2,588.46, as of 02:26 GMT.
** Among index heavyweights, chipmaker Samsung Electronics 005930.KS rose 0.14% and peer SK Hynix 000660.KS gained 3.29%, while battery maker LG Energy Solution 373220.KS climbed 3.00%.
** Hyundai Motor 005380.KS shed 0.65% and sister automaker Kia Corp 000270.KS gained 1.10%, while search engine Naver 035420.KS and instant messenger Kakao 035720.KS were up 1.59% and up 1.32%, respectively.
** South Korea's economy shrank 0.2% in the second quarter, revised central bank data showed on Thursday, unchanged from its advance estimate issued in July.
** Of the total 933 traded issues, 397 shares advanced, while 484 declined.
** Foreigners were net sellers of shares worth 181.7 billion won ($136.23 million) on the main board.
** The won was quoted at 1,333.9 per dollar on the onshore settlement platform KRW=KFTC, 0.16% higher than its previous close at 1,336.0.
** In offshore trading, the won KRW= was quoted at 1,333.5 per dollar, down 0.0% on the day, while in non-deliverable forward trading its one-month contract KRW1MNDFOR= was quoted at 1,330.9.
** The KOSPI has fallen 2.52% so far this year, and lost 7.0% in the previous 30 trading sessions.
** The won has lost 3.4% against the dollar so far this year.
** In money and debt markets, September futures on three-year treasury bonds KTBc1 rose 0.07 point to 105.88.
** The most liquid three-year Korean treasury bond yield fell by 2.9 basis points to 2.904%, while the benchmark 10-year yield fell by 1.6 basis points to 3.032%.
