Italy's Anima Holding hits 2-year record high as Q1 net profit, revenue top expectations
Adds share milestone in paragraph 1, CEO quotes in para 4 and 7, context, results
May 6 (Reuters) -Italian asset manager Anima Holding ANIM.MI beat forecasts on Monday with strong growth in both net profit and revenue in the first quarter, sending its shares up to 3.5% to 4.53 euros each hitting a record high since May 2022.
Group's net profit surged 75% year-on-year to 52.9 million euros ($56.96 million), beating analysts' forecasts of 50-51.3 million euros.
Revenue rose 51% over the same period to 121.9 million euros, topping expectations of 114-114.5 million euros, mainly thanks to higher performance fees.
"The year starts at a high speed, thanks to the contribution of the markets but also due to a structural increase in our profitability, which is the result of the evolution of our product mix " Chief Executive Officer Alessandro Melzi d’Eril said in a statement.
Anima, which offers its products and services mainly through distribution agreements with banks in Italy, executed in 2023 two acquisitions to diversify its offer.
It bought a 80% stake in Castello SGR, a firm specializing in alternative investments, for around 60 million euros in February. Later in November it acquired the wealth management firm Kairos Partners, whose consolidation will be completed this month, from Swiss Bank Julius Baer for around 25 million euros.
For Kairos Partners, Merzi d'Eril said, "we foresee a significant role in the future growth of the Group following the completion of the acquisition a few days ago".
The company recorded total net outflows of 387 million euros in April, while total asset under management reached 191.1 billion euros at April-end, up 4.8% on a yearly basis.
The board also approved the launch of a share buyback program, for a total consideration of around 40 million euros.
