Forward prices fall on wet weather outlook
Aug 7 (Reuters) -Nordic forward power prices declined on Wednesday, pressured by forecasts for wetter weather in the hydropower-dependent region.
* The Nordic front-quarter power contract ENOFBLQc1 fell 0.65 euros to 41.25 euros per megawatt hour (MWh) at 0944 GMT.
* The Nordic front-year contract ENOFBLYc1 shed 0.5 euro to 40.5 euros.
* "The weather forecasts remain wet, with precipitation expected 50% higher than average during the next ten days and German power is also down after initially edging up earlier in the session," said Karsten Sander Nielsen, a senior market analyst at Energi Danmark.
* Germany's Cal'25 baseload TRDEBYc1, Europe's benchmark contract, dropped 0.35 euros to 94 euros/MWh.
* "The next days including the weekend will turn more unsettled with frequent showers and temperatures dropping to slightly below normal values," Georg Muller, a meteorologist at LSEG, said in a note.
* "Rain amounts will be above normal, especially in the south and west," Muller added.
* Dutch and British wholesale gas prices edged lower as ample supply offset the impact of forecasts that hot weather next week will increase power sector demand and concern of possible disruption as tensions flare in the Middle East. NG/EU
* Nordic water reserves available 15 days ahead PCAEC00 were seen at 2.73 terawatt hours (TWh) above normal, compared with 3.30 TWh above normal on Tuesday.
* Carbon front-year allowances CFI2Zc1 rose 0.13 euro to 70.09 euros a tonne.
* The Nordic power price for next-day physical delivery FXSYSAL=NPX, or system price, fell 4.75 euros or 15.7% to 25.59 euros per megawatt hour (MWh).
