US Cash Crude-Coastal grades up, inland grades down
July 16 (Reuters) -Coastal crude grades Mars and Light Louisiana Sweet lost value on Tuesday, dealers said, while inland grades, WTI Midland and West Texas Sour rose.
The Brent/WTI spread WTCLc1-LCOc1 narrowed for the third consecutive session. A narrower spread between the global benchmark and WTI typically disincentivizes transatlantic demand, pressuring prices.
Weighing on refinery demand, Exxon Mobil's XOM.N 251,800-barrel-per-day (bpd) refinery at Joliet, Illinois, experienced a power outage on Monday, a filing showed.
At least one unit went down following the power outage. Exxon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Meanwhile, U.S. crude oil inventories fell last week while gasoline and distillates rose, according to market sources citing American Petroleum Institute figures on Tuesday.
The API figures showed crude stocks were down by 4.442 million barrels in the week ended July 12, the sources said, speaking on condition of anonymity. Gasoline inventories rose by 365,000 barrels, and distillates rose by 4.923 million barrels.
* Light Louisiana Sweet WTC-LLS for August delivery fell 10 cents at a midpoint of a $2.60 premium and was seen bid and offered between a $2.50 and $2.70 a barrel premium to U.S. crude futures CLc1
* Mars Sour WTC-MRS fell 20 cents at a midpoint of a 80-cent discount and was seen bid and offered between a 90-cent and 70-cent a barrel discount to U.S. crude futures CLc1
* WTI Midland WTC-WTM gained 10 cents at a midpoint of a 85-cent premium and was seen bid and offered between a 75-cent and 95-cent a barrel premium to U.S. crude futures CLc1
* West Texas Sour WTC-WTS gained $1.17 at a midpoint of a 17-cent premium and was seen bid and offered between a discount of 15 cents and 50-cent a barrel premium to U.S. crude futures CLc1
* WTI at East Houston WTC-MEH, also known as MEH, traded between a $1.05 and $1.25 a barrel premium to U.S. crude futures CLc1
* ICE Brent September futures LCOc1 fell $1.12 to settle at $83.73 a barrel on Tuesday.
* WTI August crude CLc1 futures fell $1.15 to settle at $80.76 a barrel on Tuesday.
* The Brent/WTI spread WTCLc1-LCOc1 narrowed last to minus $4.01, after hitting a high of minus $4.00 and a low of minus $4.10.
