UK Stocks-Factors to watch on Aug. 12
Adds new items, update futures
Aug 12 (Reuters) -Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE index is seen opening higher on Monday, with futures FFIc1 up 0.3%.
* BT: India's Bharti Enterprises said it wouldacquire a 24.5% stake in BT GroupBT.L, buying out the British company's top shareholder, Altice UK, the vehicle of Telecoms tycoon Patrick Drahi.
* SHELL: Shell SHEL.L and PetroChina 601857.SS have decided to expand the Surat coal seam gas project (SGP) in Queensland, the British oil and gas giant said amid calls for more investment to boost local energy supply.
* WATER UTILITIES: British water companies that fail their customers will have to hand over higher compensation to affected households and businesses under plans announced by the government.
* PAY: British employers expect to raise pay by 3% over the coming year, the lowest planned increase in two years and down from 4% three months ago, a survey from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development showed.
* INSURERS: Insurers paid out a record-high 1.4 billion pounds in claims in the UK during the second quarter, primarily due to weather-related catastrophes such as fires and flooding, the Association of British Insurers said.
* OIL: Oil pricesrose for a fifth consecutive session on Monday, holding on to last week's more than 3% gains, as U.S. recession fears eased while geopolitical tensions in the Middle East supported prices..
* METALS: Copper was underpressure as macro-economic weakness outweighed recent signs of stronger physical demand, while investors awaited for more indicators on the global economic outlook.
