Major US banks jump after Trump claims election victory
** Shares of economy-sensitive big U.S. banks rise in premarket trading as Republican Donald Trump claims victory in the 2024 presidential contest
** Major U.S. banks JPMorgan Chase JPM.N, Wells Fargo WFC.N, Goldman Sachs GS.N, Morgan Stanley MS.N, Citigroup C.N, and Bank of America BAC.N gain between 5.7% and 7% before the bell
** Trump claimed victory in the 2024 presidential contest after Fox News projected that he had defeated Democrat Kamala Harris, which would cap a stunning political comeback four years after he left the White House.
** Analysts have said a Trump win could lift banks on improved domestic investment, looser regulations, domestic job additions and tax cuts
** Environment for large multi-billion deals is also expected to be boosted by a Republican presidency on hopes of a more lenient approach to antitrust regulation enforcement
** Meanwhile, S&P 500 futures touched a record high in sharp and broad-based rally on Wednesday .N
** As of last close, S&P 500 Banks Index .SPXBK was up ~26% YTD, outperforming a ~20% rise in the benchmark S&P 500 Index .SPX
