General Motors shares rise; results due before the bell Tues

** GM is expected to post a gain in quarterly rev to $45.46 bln from $44.75 bln a yr ago, while it is expected to post adjusted earnings of $2.75/shr vs $2.37 in the yr-ago period, according to LSEG

** GM on July 15 declined to reiterate its previously announced forecast that it would have 1 mln units of electric vehicle production capacity in North America by the end of 2025

** The company has beaten analyst earnings estimates in seven of the past eight reporting periods, per LSEG

** Analyst recommendations on the stock include 20 "strong buy" or "buy" ratings, eight "hold" ratings and one "sell" rating, based on LSEG data

** The median 12-mo price target on the stock is $52​; the stock was last at $49.37

** Including the session move, the stock was up 38% YTD vs a roughly 17% gain in the S&P 500 in that period
