US Cash Grains-Soy processor basis bids steady-lower on slow demand
CHICAGO, Aug 23 (Reuters) -Basis bids for soybeans delivered to U.S. Midwest processing plants were steady to lower on Friday as buyers had adequate crushing supplies on hand and as they anticipated a flood of newly harvested soybeans this autumn, grain merchants said.
* Spot soy basis bids at interior and river elevators were mostly unchanged.
* Processing plants have good supplies on hand following recent farmer sales. A crusher in Morristown, Indiana, cut its spot bid by 10 cents a bushel on Friday, and a crusher in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, trimmed its spot bid by 5 cents.
* Spot corn basis bids were unchanged at river terminals and ethanol plants and steady to firm at interior elevators and other processors.
* A closely followed U.S. Midwest crop surveying tour this week found strong corn yields and generally above average soy crop potential. Tour organizers Pro Farmer are due to release a U.S. production estimate later on Friday.
