KYIV, Aug 23 (Reuters) -The amount of Russian oil flowing to European countries via Ukraine rose to 1.09 million metric tons in July from 540,000 tons in June, Kyiv's base fuel consultancy ExPro said on Friday, following complaints by Hungary and Slovakia about a major drop.

From Aug. 1-19, the oil transit volume exceeded 600,000 tons, the consultancy added.

"According to ExPro calculations ... in July, transit volumes amounted to 35,200 tons per day, and in August - 33,300 tons per day," the consultancy said.

The consultancy said that in July most of the oil was transported to Hungary - 0.43 million tons, an 8% decline from June.

Oil supplies to Slovakia increased sharply to 0.34 million tons, the consultancy said, adding that 0.32 million tons had also been transported to the Czech Republic during the month.

Monthly volumes of oil transit via Ukraine are unstable, fluctuating from the roughly 500,000 tons in June to more than 1.2 million tons in January, the consultancy's data shows.

Russian oil-exporter Lukoil LKOH.MM was banned by Kyiv in late June from using the "Druzhba" or "Friendship" pipeline that runs through Ukraine's territory, partly supplying Hungary's and also Slovakia's refineries.

The two landlocked countries warned of possible fuel shortages from September unless a solution was found.

Ukrainian officials, however, have said the volume remained unchanged but declined to give exact volumes of oil transit.
