Aug 28 (Reuters) -ICE canola futures ended lower on Wednesday, halting a three-session rally, after Statistics Canada's estimate of the 2024 canola crop came in above trade expectations, traders said.

  • Statistics Canada estimated 2024 canola production at 19.5 million metric tons, above an average of analyst estimates for 19.2 million. The agency also raised its estimate of the 2023 harvest to 19.2 million tons, from 18.3 million tons previously.

  • ICE November canola RSX4 settled down $3.20 at $595.80 per metric ton, staying inside of Tuesday's trading range. January canola RSF5 ended down $3 at $606.30.

  • Producer selling was subdued, traders said, as growers held out for a bounce ahead of the harvest, which is still about two weeks away.

  • However, combines have begun to roll in a few corners of Manitoba, the provincial government said in a weekly crop report released on Tuesday. GRO/MBA

  • Chicago Board of Trade soybean futures SX24 declined on Wednesday as a Midwest heat wave eased and rains crossed the region, reducing fears of crop stress. SOY/C

  • Euronext November rapeseed futures COMX4 fell 0.54% and Malaysian palm oil FCPOc3 ended down 0.1% on Wednesday. POI/

  • The Canadian dollar CAD= weakened against its U.S. counterpart as crude oil prices fell and investors took stock of recent gains a day after the loonie hit a five-month high. CAD/
