LONDON, Sept 5 (Reuters) -Northwest European gasoline refining margins dropped 50 cents to $7.50 a barrel on Thursday even as regional inventories fell, as stocks in top consumer the United States rose unexpectedly.

  • Around 6,000 metric tons of Eurobob E10 barges traded in the Argus window, up from 4,000 tons on Wednesday. TotalEnergies and Varo bought from Shell and Equinor.

  • Another 4,000 tons of Eurobob E5 traded as Gunvor sold to Shell.

  • Independently held refined oil products stocks in storage in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) refining and storage hub fell 2.5% in the week to Thursday, data from Dutch consultancy Insights Global showed.

  • Total stocks stood at 6.06 million metric tons, down from 6.22 million tons the previous week.

  • Gasoline stocks fell about 3.4% on the week to 975,000 tons as exports flowed on the transatlantic route and to West Africa, Insights Global's Lars van Wageningen said.

  • U.S. gasoline stocks USOILG=ECI, meanwhile, were up 800,000 barrels last week to 219.2 million barrels, the Energy Information Administration said, compared with expectations in a Reuters poll for a 700,000-barrel draw.

  • Gasoline exports from northwest Europe and the west Mediterranean reached around 2.9 million tons in August, compared with 3.35 million tons in July, and 3.59 million tons a year earlier, according to LSEG analyst Abdul Hadhi.

  • The drop in exports was due to weaker demand in the United States and West Africa and is expected to drop further in September due to lower seasonal demand and refinery maintenance, he said.
