Adds context on cybersecurity

BEIJING, Oct 17 (Reuters) -China will boost cooperation with other countries in standards and regulation, and study policies to facilitate cross-border data flows, its industry minister said on Thursday when outlining the future for connected vehicles, according to state media.

Jin Zhuanglong made the remarks at the opening of an intelligent connected vehicle conference in Beijing where he vowed to accelerate the formulation of network security and data security standards, state television CCTV reported.

He didn't give specifics for the policy timeline.

Cybersecurity concerns in the world's largest auto market were heightened this week after China's state security ministry said an unidentified foreign company conducted illegal mapping services in the country under the guise of autonomous driving research.
