Ford Motor is expected to post a drop in profit for the second quarter. The company is expected to outline whether commercial and hybrid vehicle sales offset struggles in its EV business.


The U.S. economic calendar includes the release of S&P Global's preliminary manufacturing and services PMI numbers. For July, the manufacturing PMI is forecast to be at 51.7, compared with 51.6 in June, while the services PMI is expected to be at 55, compared with June's 55.3. Additionally, a report from the U.S. Commerce Department is expected to show new home sales rose to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 640,000 units in June, up from 619,000 units in May.


AT&T is expected to report rise in second-quarter revenue, helped by strong subscriber additions.


When Thermo Fisher Scientific reports its second-quarter earnings, investors will be looking out for any comments about demand for tools and services from biotech clients. Focus will also be on any changes to the firm's 2024 outlook and commentary around 2025. Separately, Boston Scientific is scheduled to report its second-quarter results. Investors will be focusing on the medtech company's heart devices, given a pick-up in hospital surgical procedure volumes, and changes to its 2024 forecast print. Edwards Lifesciences is also slated to report its second-quarter results. Investors are expected to look out for demand for its heart devices. Additionally, investor will keep an eye on the demand for Align Technology’s medical devices, such as teeth aligners, when the company releases its second-quarter results.


Dallas Fed President Lorie Logan and Federal Reserve Board Governor Michelle Bowman are scheduled to give opening remarks before the "Advance Together: Celebrating the Achievements of Texas Community Partnerships" hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. (1605 /2005)


Chipotle Mexican Grill is expected to post a rise in second-quarter revenue, helped by strong demand for its rice bowls and burritos. Investors will look out for comments on demand trends, impact from wage law in California, if any further menu price hikes planned and update on the forecasts.


KLA Corp is expected to report a rise in revenue in the fourth quarter as a frenzy to buy powerful AI chips lifts the demand for its semiconductor-manufacturing equipment.


Bank of Canada is scheduled to announce its interest rate decision. The central bank is expected to cut interest rate by 25 basis points to 4.50% from 4.75%.


Canada's Rogers Communications is expected to post higher second-quarter revenue, helped by rising demand for its wireless and internet services from the growing population and immigrants entering the country.


Financial adviser Ameriprise Financial is expected to report a jump in second-quarter profit, helped by an uptick in fee-based income. Separately, insurer Globe Life is expected to post a jump in second-quarter profit, helped by robust underwriting and higher investment income.

Lamb Weston Holdings is expected to post a rise in fourth-quarter revenue, helped by steady demand for its frozen products. Investors will look for comments on demand, pricing actions, impact of input costs and annual forecasts.


In Latin America, Mexico’s statistics agency INEGI is scheduled to release the country’s inflation data for the first half of July, which likely increased 0.39%, following a 0.21% rise in June. Core inflation for the first half of July is expected to have risen 0.19%, compared to a 0.17% increase in the previous month.
