US Cash Grains-Corn basis mixed, soy steady as harvest progresses
CHICAGO, Oct 2 (Reuters) -Basis bids for soybeans were steady at U.S. Midwest elevators and crushing sites on Wednesday, spot checks showed, while corn bids were mixed as dry conditions across most of the Corn Belt helped advance the harvest of both crops.
* The corn basis fell by 5 cents at bushel at Blair, Nebraska, site of a large corn processor, but firmed by 5 cents at a Chicago-area processing site.
* Favorable harvest weather is expected to continue. "Little or no rain will fall during the next five days across the Plains and large sections of the South, Midwest, and West. Potentially record-setting warmth will accompany the dry weather," the USDA's Office of the Chief Economist said in a daily note.
* Chicago Board of Trade corn futures notched a three-month top, following as wheat Wv1 futures rose on worries about poor weather in Russia. CBOT December corn CZ24 settled up 3-1/2 cents at $4.32-1/2 a bushel.
* But CBOT soybean futures Sv1 ended down 1-1/4 cents at $10.56 a bushel, pressured by outlooks for welcome rains in Brazil and potential delays to anti-deforestation rules in Europe that had bolstered demand for US soy products. GRA/
