May 16 (Reuters) -Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE index is seen opening higher on Thursday, with futures FFIc1 up 0.4%.

* ANGLO AMERICAN: Anglo American AAL.L has suspended hiring globally, according to an internal memo reviewed by Reuters, as it gets plans underway to simplify itself and build value - and avert a $43 billion takeover bid by Australia's BHP Group BHP.AX.

* GOLD: Gold prices inched up following a sharp rise in the last session as the dollar and bond yields weakened on the increasing likelihood of rate cuts by the U.S. Federal Reserve as early as September.

* OIL: Oil prices extended gains from the previous session on signs of stronger demand in the U.S. where data showed slower inflation than markets expected, bolstering the argument for an interest rate cut which could drive even greater consumption.

* EX-DIVS: BP BP.L, GSK GSK.L, Kingfisher KGF.L, Tesco TSCO.L, Bunzl BNZL.L will trade without entitlement to their latest dividend pay-outs on Thursday.

* FTSE: Britain's FTSE 100 closed at an all-time high on Wednesday, lifted in part by housebuilder stocks, buoyed by hopes of an interest rate cut, while Burberry's shares sank after it reported a sharp fall in quarterly sales.
