Aug 7 (Reuters) -Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE index is seen opening higher on Wednesday, with futures FFIc1 up 1.1%.


* GLENCORE: Glencore GLEN.L will not spin off its coal business after securing backing from the majority of its investors who see lucrative earnings from the fossil fuel after the commodities giant's recent acquisition of Teck Resources' TECKb.TO coking coal assets, it said.

* RIGHTMOVE: British real estate portal Rightmove RMV.L has appointed Ruaridh Hook as its chief financial officer (CFO) with effect from Sept. 15, it said.

* THAMES WATER: Britain's water regulator stepped in to ensure struggling Thames Water improves its performance, appointing an independent monitor to sit within the business and report back to the regulator after the company breached its licence.

* LEGAL & GENERAL: Legal & General LGEN.L reported a 1% rise in first-half core operating profit to 849 million pounds ($1.08 billion), exceeding analyst expectations, following record sales of individual annuities over the period.

* QUILTER: British wealth manager Quilter QLT.L beat half-year earnings forecasts and reported stronger net inflows of cash, as more wealthy clients flocked to the firm's funds.

* TP ICAP: British inter-dealer broker TP ICAP TCAPI.L reported a 10% rise in its half-year pre-tax profit on Wednesday, helped by strong performance in its energy and commodities segment.

* HISCOX: Lloyd's of London insurer Hiscox HSX.L reported a 7% rise in first-half pre-tax profit, backed by higher insurance services and investment income.

* TULLOW OIL: West Africa-focused Tullow Oil TLW.L posted a higher profit for the first six months of 2024, helped by higher crude prices.

* HOUSE PRICES: British house prices edged up by 0.8% in July from June, mortgage lender Halifax said.
